Material as a Design Impulse – Students from the University of Mainz Visit SPS

In October, Professor Bernd Benninghoff, who teaches material technology and furniture design in the Interior Architecture program at the University of Mainz, visited Salamander Premium Solutions in Türkheim with a group of students and industry partners. This visit marks the start of a collaboration for the winter semester, where participants explored SPS and, in particular, COHERA.

Salamander Premium Solutions is a partner in the project series "Material as a Design Impulse," conducted in collaboration with other partners such as the Austrian company Fundermax, as well as Ackermann, Keilverbinder, and König & Neurath.

As part of this project, students will experimentally explore a special material, manufacturing process, or exciting material combinations. The prototypes will be created at a 1:1 scale and presented at trade fairs such as the Furniture Fair, Orgatec, and Interzum.

With a focus on bio-based, sustainable materials, Professor Benninghoff has developed a particular interest in COHERA. We look forward to the inspiring and creative designs that will be presented at the University of Mainz in December.
